Now I'm not saying don't enjoy Saturday's result, becasue it was a really good performance and god we've waited long enough for one, but I think some of us are getting a little ahead of ourselves. We havn't achieved anything yet and I just fear that we are setting ourselves up for a fall. If we put in a similar performance against Hudds then I may allow myself to get a little more excited but it was only one game against a poor side.

I agree that some might be getting ahead of themselves but we made Saints into a poor side. Saints would have put points past other teams (including last year's Hull FC) in the first 20 minutes and then they could have gone on to score a lot more. Good solid defence and some very good team tries (as well as Briscoe's one-man effort) put them to bed.

Your right but it is hard after seeing such a polished performance. As someone has already posted If we beat Hudds at the weekend I think then we can realistically believe we can go on to big things this season.

If we get thumped on Friday, oh well at least its the weekend and we can get drunk !!!

your right tho. yea we played really well and the pack dominated but it is only one game. if Long plays like that all the time i'd be very suprised. we don't need to remind ourselves of what hapened last year. but in saying that if we do the same to hudds i'll be a very happy bunny!

Agree with your post, apart from your statement 'against a poor side', Saints threw every-thing at us the first 20/25 they showed the class they have on the pitch, however we weathered the storm then took control, we then made them look poor.

Saints are far from a poor side. Apart from that i agree with your comments. Like Downtheante states we made them look poor with a very good defensive display. We have every right to be optimistic about the coming season on that showing.

Ok Saint's aren't a poor side, however they were on the night imo and we will be tested alot more than that this year.

to be honest when i watched the game again saints were very good first 20 mins making line breaks ect but like longy said we wetherd the storm and grow as the game went on. even near the end when saints had penalty after penalty and tansey was sin binned they throw everything at us and played alot of expansive rugby but our defence was exceptional throughout the game and saints started to get fustrated prime example when eatmound give an inside ball to whoever and got caught on the last and there was saints players shouting at eachother ect. just becasue we played well and convincently beat a good saints side dosent mean nowt unless we back it up against a very good giants team. but there was very good signs from the team and everyone as the right to be optimistic for the rest of the season.
