| I've been informed by another Red who attended a meeting at the Stadium today that it is to be re-named in August, it will become the MBNA Stadium in a deal with Sale's main sponsor. I was just getting used to calling it the Salford City Stadium!
At the same meeting they yet again claim to be the biggest club in Manchester (or Stockport, Salford etc.) aren't Wigan in Greater Manchester?
I can't confirm any of this is true and it may all be simple alleged and hear say but i just thought I'd pass it on.

| You and I both know that the source of this is highly unlikely to feed us a line on this.
I'm wondering if Sale have picked up added sponsorship money with that... perhaps telling the people at MBNA that they could get them stadium naming rights if they put more into their club... as part of a bigger deal.
The only people we can blame again for this are our own club... as I've said before... if we had done things right years ago... we would have owned our own stadium and never had to look at bringing Sale in... as it goes... we messed up and had to rely on other people, who are now able to do with it whatever they want right under our noses.
And I'm pretty sure that Salford City Reds won't get a bean from this.

| Sale were never going to play at 'The City of Salford Stadium' were they. Another excellent development - I await the positive spin on this. I recall many on here holding out until we secured naming rights for the stadium to generate some money.

| Disappointed if true from the city's point of view rather than the rugby club.
The name 'Salford City Stadium' is great for the city's image, particularly as it begins to be used for international events. I'm happy enough about sharing with Sale but sad that the City has given up the naming rights to a credit card company

I don't think you'll have to wait long fella I'm sure there are some putting their blinkers on as we speak.

As long as the "we" you speak of isn't Salford RLFC then you may be right.

I read the same source as KOTS did, and that person seemed to be under the impression that Sale have acquired the right to sell the naming rights to the Stadium. At the moment it will be MBNA as they are Sale's sponsor, but if anyone else wants to come along and give Sale the money, they will use another name. I wonder if this is limited to stadium title, or stands as well.
I wonder how long until the Stadium's address reverts to being Eccles, Manchester.

On the subject of the stadium. According to their website, the Bradford game is in just under 17 hours time as I type this (the countdown is on one of the toggling images on the homepage - www.salfordcitystadium.com/ )

| I suspect this is a ploy to rid Salford supporters from the stadium. If we all need credit checks to be accepted into the ground, plenty will be denied.

| of course MBNA do a Salford Reds credit card, I know because I have one - all spending on it gets a percentage to the club.
So, just perhaps, this could be a good thing for both clubs?
