Although this delightful little island you call home is only about half the size of my uncle Wayneo's Northern Territory cattle station it still seems to take at least half a day to actually travel anywhere by car. It took me almost 3 hours to travel from Hammersmith to Oxford the other day by car. Last week it took us 45 mins to travel from a takeaway in Willesden to our Dollis Hill sharehouse during which time our Battered Savs had gone cold. What the hell is wrong with this country?
As RLFans biggest legend sat in the back of the car stuck in yet another hold up silently cursing the day he ever came to the UK he had another fantastic idea.
Why dont we share information on decent bed and breakfasts/Cheap hotels to stay in around the UK as we travel to watch the footy?
Example...from Dollis Hill to London is about 210 miles. Given pommie driving conditions this will take about 6 hours ... if not more. So then you watch the footy, have a few beers, a takeway ...and then you have a 6 hour trek back to London.
Example 2... Dollis Hill to Wrexham to watch the Wrexham Crusaders ...just under 200 miles. Journey time...probably about the same travelling time as a trip to Hull. Thats 12 hours of my life I will never get back wasted by sitting in a car on some shonky pommie motorway.
Now I know that anyone on this board would be more than happy to put Barry McKenzie and his mates up for a night in their own houses. And who could blame them?
However Barry McKenzie would sooner pay his own way and sleep in a bed and breakfast. At least then I wouldnt feel so bad about bringing a sheila back or vomiting all over the wall to wall.
Good idea?
There must be some good bed and breakfasts that people on here have used whilst travelling to SL games around the place they could recommend?
