Anybody know if Rugby Union still use them? (Blades)

Blades aren't banned in Union. Boots are checked by the ref before the game and any boots which are deemed dangerous (blades or studs) are not allowed.

Same as us then.



If Football which it has, RL and Union all decide to ban them maybe the makers will do something about it.

Obviously stop making them.



I never saw what was wrong with the good old black boot with six screw in metal studs. You could always change your studs to suit the conditions.



Nowadays boots are more of a fashion statement with kids wanting the most upto date and expensive ones. No self respecting kid would take to the field wearing a £20/£30 pair of boots.

A stupid decision from BARLA, not only because im £100 out of pocket - and all my other boots are of similar style, and being an apprentice that has christmas coming up, car to run etc. it hardly comes at a decent time.



If its good enough for Premiership football players to wear them ( in which there is far more possibility for injuries involving blades).

It will no doubt come under the Health and Safety banner.

how stupid is this! plasic, moulded "blades" hurt less than studs. Like its been said previously more than 75% of my team wear these moulded blades, can't see everyone being able to afford new boots so soon!

I wouldn't bet against one of our games being called off if they stop some of our players playing because of this!!

BARLA need to inform ALL clubs of this decision in writing, then the clubs will have to inform teams/players.



Going to be a lot of upset people with this decision.
