Aye I was wasn't I?  Tho getting those two has put the last pieces of the jigsaw together, tho surprisingly for me it's been Johnny G that's really impressed. He's been outstanding tho Morro has done the graft week in week out!! I sort of thought it'd be the other way round.
Question:- Has the fact that widnes have already qualified to apply for a SL spot, affected their performance, recruitment etc for this season. - serious question, no wind up!!

No probs about the question.. it's a good one mate and we're probably in a position to answer it a bit better now...
Has it affected our season?? I suppose you would have to say that it has.. according to SOC and PC they haven't tried to compete in the open market for some players preferring to rely on the yoof in the academies and that certainly seems to be bearing some fruit. Fax, Barrow, Leigh and Fev have flexed their financial muscle this winter and I guess that shows in the league table. Having said that Fax went out and have tried to buy the league this year but aren't anywhere near as good as I'm sure they would have expected or hoped for.
We are doing far better than I feared at the start of the season and that fear seems to have been present in a number of fans.
I think that the major impact on the squad was the cut from £400k to £300k in the salary cap. We have definitely tried to trim the wage bill to fit under this.
I'm still very confident of the licence decision going our way in 2011 but that confidence is ebbing away slightly the nearer we get. |
