You're all missing the point. And that is 'hype'.
All this "have we got him?" talk is building to a big finale. If he signs or not, Pearson and Gentle have put our club in the headlines in both hemispheres. Fans are talking and getting excited at an NRL captain ready to end his career at FC. Harness this hype and convert it into sales and the club wins. Even the way we've announced it, with Gentle jetting off under cover of darkness, adds to the mystery.
PR job done and a massive improvement on the last administration. I love it.

Are you seriously suggesting that even if we don't actually sign him its still good news just because we were in for him and got a lot of publicity out of it? 
It would still leave us short of a scrum half. |

Signing who we set out to sign will have a far greater effect in realising our ambitions than trying and failing.
If we don't sign Prince we will still need a 7 and I don't think that failing to sign him will get us any nearer signing a quality 7. |

That's as maybe, but if we fail to land the player after all the "build up" having a big name for the brand means the square root of feckall. Failing to land Prince is hardly going to convince Thurston, for example, that FC is the place to be. |
