| Was a fantastic hooker 4 or 5 years ago and was one of the best players in the world but havent seen or heard much about him last 2 years and would command a big salary and we already have Berrigan so its pointless signing him

I don't think that was him,he did get a serious injury in the first round of the 2008 season which was well published.

| Quote Raggytash="Raggytash" Obviously I'd love Myler but I don't think there's much chance of that!'"
I can see the point in not wanting to sign a 31 year old, but I think Orford is a bit of an exception to the rule, he is playing at his peak and is exactly what we need, he relies on his upper body strengh more then speed (nicknamed the Ox) so it wouldnt be the same as signing a three quarter at that age, I think in SL we would get 3 good years out of him, he would give the club a massive boost and have a massive impact, of course it would make much more sense to sign a long term prospect, although he has a lot of talent I doubt Myler has what it takes to make a top class 7, id say he is a little bit more of a Richard Horne type player, thats not a bad thing but not what we desperately need. Dobson was our best chance of a long term solution to our halfback problem but I think the board made a big mistake and went for the bigger named player in Crocker rather then what would have benifited us more in the longer term.
As for Wing class act but again not the answer, not too different to Berrigan although Wing is probabally a better runner out of dummy half, he has the skills to make a good 6, and to cover and do a job at halfback, we would still need a better playmaker along side him and he is one a lot of money at Souths so would have to be our only major signing I would think.

Orford has only just turned 31, and would do the job for us for 2 years
there doesn't seem to be anyone younger available who is of that quality

The only other I can think of is Finch, but I would imagine that there will be a few NRL clubs and most SL clubs looking at him too along with Orford.
Is Sean Long carrying on after this season? Because I would imagine saints would be first choice for alot of players.
Warrington will probably need two new playmakers, with Monas looking at going home and Briers going or at least rumoured to be going to Barrow.

| I think one of the issues at Hull is that they seem to have a fairly ridgid pay structure. Some teams seem willing to bust the bank to get players (Warrington) but it doesn't always pay does it? That obviously makes attracting the best players a little more difficult. Timing becomes more important.
The other problem is the decision making as far as recruitment goes. Agar & Sharp both acknowledged the imbalance in the squad yet were in control when Lauaki was signed. Why wasn't this a back? It's a fine line between success and failure and getting the right ingredients isn't always easy. Next season will be a defining one for me as the coaches have the opportunity to bring balance and quality to the squad with all the pending departures. The question is will they be either able or allowed to?

dobson was not an option for us as he needed to come over last year before his work permit ran out as he hadn't been playing 1st grade in Oz and wouldn't have got another visa. We didn't have the salary cap space last year and I don't think we had the overseas spot either. he was never an option. People should stop going on about him

Hopefully it won't be them incharge to make these decisions and a top coach will be in charge for a change.

I'd make a punt for Kearney! There'd be no changing room decent there.

| How about a half back from t'other code? Yes they would need some acclimatisation but there seems to be more young quality players in union at the moment.

Oh don't you start, we have enough of this from the brother.
Imo there's not a chance of Kearney coming over for years tbh. He's coach of the world champions and on the coaching staff at arguably the best team in the world (Storm, think he's still there).
We should have gone for Brown in all honesty when he was available.
Out of current coaches Neil Henry may be worth a punt and see what happens at Manly with the current going ons at the club (Hasler).
Although I couldn't see us getting someone like Hasler tbh.
Graham Murray would be an excellent addition and I'm sure he wants to get back into coaching.

Orford for 2 or 3 years would be just what we need to nurture our youth too.
