Not looking forward t next week's match. The time has come I think - no point in waiting for the ship to sail. Appoint a new coach now then at least there's a shot of recruiting some talent. The Red and Whites have Mike Smith in Oz at the moment scouting for new players, if we wait any longer next season will be written off as well. Action now I say. I've posted earlier on the "If........."page on my thoughts...Justin Morgan all the way for me. He is a coach that can attract some good names from both sides of the pond and that really is half the battle.

Players like Aspinwall, Martin & McGoldrick were dismissed as being fill-in players last season, but we got a lot more out of them than this years signings!
the forwards are too light, and players we previously relied on heavily like Yeaman, Lynch & Whiting are another year older and haven't reached their usual standards.
our attack is not better than the Agar days, and at times it is even worse as we don't have the 'pass it to Manu and hope he knocks 3 players over' tactic to use anymore.
Gentle seems incapable of motivating his team to play 'run of the mill' SL games, we are capable of beating the likes of Wire, Leeds & Catalan....but then the week after lose to Widnes, draw with London etc
I think Pearson has to act soon or next years pass sales will be dire, the 'new dawn' hype has kept the pass sales going the last 2 years...but they've milked that for all its worth.
The only way to get passes up is to bring in a top-level coach who has a proven pedigree of winning things, and some genuine top-class international players (and by international I mean current Australia/New Zealand/England stars not someone who was on the bench for England Knights once

Sean Long's available now if you want a half back coach.
He coached Houldsworth at Salford and improved him, he's your best half anyway.
Your forwards need to improve but you need a quality coach to get your half backs going. Once they're fixed the with the backs you have winning will become a regular thing.

Think we need Longy like a hole in the head, don`t get me wrong, good player in his day, but not exactly a steadying influence. |
