I think it would be an absolute disaster for terrestrial tv to lose the Challenge Cup to be honest... to lots of people the Challenge Cup on the BBC will be their only exposure to the game and it's important to keep that going. Turning it into a sport that is exclusive only to Sky would be a bad move.

Bugger the BBC,as a previous poster mentioned they have never shown any great respect for the sport.I recall one year when Saints had won the cup,they didn't even show the cup presentation because they had to cover a SWIMMING FINAL for petes sake.

I would'nt mind ITV giving it a go.I quite like their coverage of Rugby Union and it's presented very well.

lets face it, th beeb are crap at sports coverage unless it gives a bunch of presenters an excuse for an all expenses paid overseas trip (ie: The Olympics or World Cup).



Campaigning to keep the CC on free to air just shows RL for the tin pot organisation it is, if you cannot sell your "annual event" then it shows that it needs updating, maybe having it covered by Sky, or not even covered at all, might make the RFL spend some money on the actual event for a change, the days of people traipsing to London to watch a marching band and a has been act are, fortunately, long gone.
