I liked Brian Jackson too. Big, strong lad, who loved a scrap and he hit very hard in the tackle.
Darren Fritz was a favourite of mine too. I will never forget the Challenge Cup game when we played Runcorn Highfield at home and the sight of Darren Fritz running down the field with what looked like 5 blokes on his back LOL
Priceless!
Other players that stood out for me were:-
- Steve Ella - Class act
- Ray Price - Still amazing when he came to us
- Henry Paul - A different class at the time
- Andy Mason - Ahead of his time for me, very fast, underated, great warm up routine
- Michael Jackson - a surprise package, whatever happened to him ???
- Geoff Bagnall - A real leader and very underated player
- Nigel Bell - A real work horse and put his body on the line week after week for the team
- Nigel Wright - Shame he didn't reach his full potential but on his day was a very clever and intelligent player.
- Gareth Ellis - Best homegrown player I've seen at Wakefield, you could see he had the potential and he's developed into a far better player than I ever imagined TBF to the lad.
I'm sure there's many more I've missed.....
