| Quote TRB="TRB"That is possible. The irony is that, as a 'smaller' club, we sometimes have to pay more to keep hold of our players.
Don't think Pitts is going for the money tbh - but then I don't think he's making the right decision at this stage in his career. He could well find himself playing reserve grade for longer - or even end up out on loan somewhere. Still - his choice!

Maybe not, but their offer is much more than ours!

| Quote snowie="snowie"icon_eek.gif you are joking, are you saying once they have finished playing that they couldn't do anything else, I know some take some nasty knocks but even then they choose to do the sport with open eyes and most take the time to prepare for after they finish'"
Totally agree. Makes me laugh even more when they say footballers need to set themselves as they only have a short career! As you say it's not like they have their arms and legs lopped off as soon as they finish they are still more than capable of getting another job. How many people these days stay in the same job for their entire working life?

| The Question you should ask is whether Pitts has actually made the decision to go, or the club? Because as you say, it's probably not the best move for him right now.
FWIW im told that Brad is defo going to Cas, Martin also with Evans in return (Martin does not want to go, but club won't offer him a long enough deal) Brough and Atkins are staying, Tronc and Newton are sorted and JK is activley pursuing a s/o.......
but that could all be rubbish i suppose

Why did Evans go to Bradford first time round? I thought it was money and length of contract? What's changed now?
I really rate Evans but I'd rather have Martin as long as we get a stand off and put him back in the centre, which is what will happen if Evans comes anyway. I suppose Evans could be cheaper as Martin came with big rep.

| In the link below it says brough knocked us back because he is reluctant to leave yorkshire, also says that brough is almost certain to sign for huddersfield.

| I posted this two months ago and in view of this thread creating so much interest I thought it might be useful to revisit it possibly reassess some of my decisions back then.
Quote The Clan="The Clan"Before anyone criticises this thread as being unsupportive, might be unsettling, nice to know I'm behind our players, Too early for this type of discussion etc . . etc . .
It's just my opinion which was'nt formed over the course of one game but has been considerd, measured and has been made without emotion for what I think IMO is the best for the club.
I hope it fosters plenty of debate which is what this board is there for.
Please don't shoot me!
[size=150[uNot Sure[/u[/size
Winterstein - Not seen Enough =redsame, but has looked promising
Bibb - Show me something Before it's too late =redsorry Kyle but it's too late
Latu - Love the Excitemeny Hate the inconsistancy=red certainly been more consistent of late
Bibey - Top form OK but take a dip and you're gone =redmaintained decent form
Rooney - I have faith but it's time to walk the walk or leave =redI guess it turned out to be the latter
Grix - Don't know where you fit but it aint on the wing =redexactly the same
[size=150[uKeep[/u[/size
Blaymire - But where's your attacking flair gone? =redSame
Blanch - Done enough to stay despite being injured a lot =redsame
Atkins - Look for work lad and learn to put the winger away =redsame
Gleeson - Got the goods but need some beleif, man up fella! =redPlayed better in recent games
Murphy - Almost in the not sure catagorie but has time on his side =redhis injury makes this one difficult
George - Time to deliver on your huge potential! =redStill waiting
Brough - Don't take it for granted Danny! =redSame, stay here and let's build a team around you
Stosic - We're missing you! =redGlad to have you back
Moore - Don't lose the explosive side of your game =redstill underweight and needs to find his fire
Ferguson - Keep up the progress Dale, people are noticing you! =redMore people have noticed
Snitch - Impressive return to Trinity and now a 1st choice player =rednothing changed here still one of our best
Pitts - Done well but don't forget to excell! Don't settle for being average. =redPretty much the same but I think his game is held back maybe a move is what he needs to develop
Sculthorpe - Xfactor and enforcer and also has immense experience =redturned out to be a bad Apple and was rightly moved on
Wilkes - Hard work and honesty in spades =redexactly the same, I wish every player had his integrity
[size=150[uGet Rid[/u[/size
Drew - Despite a good early season I'm not convinced =redclass not in question! physical ability at 34 is being tested
Obst - Sorry little Sam but we need a bit more from an over seas player =redI still feel the same and maybe a move would benefit Sam as well
Henderson - Some honest hard work and secent performances but on balance . . . =redmy opinion has only been reinforced
Petersen - Sorry but injuries, circumstance whatever it has'nt worked =redit just hasn't worked
Demitriou - Almost a legend and stay in spme capacity but not as a player =redpassion, drive, honesty, experience and the Talisman for the team. I would take his word for it if he said it could play for the next 20 years but my head is telling me that Father Time and a long career is catching up with Jason
[size=150[uTargets for next year[/u[/size
Mark Flanagan - Wigan - Loose Forward - 23yrs old =redgetting absolute rave reviews in the reserves and is too good not to be playing first team football
Stephan Ratchford - Salford - Stand Off - 22yrs old =redhe wasn't exactly a secret when I wrote this as he wasn't demanding a first-team place, we'd have no chance of signing him now
Ashley Gibson - Leeds - Centre - 24yrs old =redI think his recent first-team appearances will only serve to confirm his departure from Leeds still a valid target OR
Ben Jones Bishop - Leeds - Centre - 22yrs old =redI won't hold my breath waiting for Leeds to let him go but if we could get him he would be a revelation
Josh Griffin - Huddersfield - Full Back - 20 yrs old (I know) =redwould still make a valuable addition to the squad
Paul McShane - Leeds - Hooker - 20yrs old =redwe've got more chance of getting Matt Diskin than McShane '"
As for Shane Tronc everything I've seen about this guy says he would be a fantastic signing for Wakefield Trinity. I've seen him play a number of times for North Queensland Cowboys and he's always been at the forefront of their pack. I've done some research on his match statistics and gone out of my way to find out what the NQC fans think of him, there's nothing to suggest that he wouldn't be a huge asset if we have or are going to sign him.
I have mixed feelings about Terry Newton and a lot will depend on whether he moves to Wakefield and is revitalised by the challenge or whether he is winding down his career. There is no doubt that if he still has the passion and the physical ability to play the game he would be good for Wakefield Trinity.
I like the look of Jodie Broughton, he has pace, strength, fantastic balance and he understands the game you can see that when he's running with the ball. His lines of running, his awareness of what's around him, his timing and those instinctive yet almost impossible to detect changes in body attitude tell you he knows the game.

Depends what is coming in. The books need to be balanced and if the club have some quality signings in other positions then a cheap, experienced, underrated centre (who did well in his first stint at the club, did well at Bradford and when he has played has performed to a decent standard at Cas) would be just the ticket.

I agree with you James Evans will probably do a good job for any team that played for but I also agree with you that Wakefield Trinity should possibly be looking at different options.
Leeds Rhinos have a surplus young and promising three-quarters who are all rapidly reaching the stage where they need first-team football. Even with the departure of Lee Smith and the approaching retirement of Keith Senior, who may well play for another year, the rhinos can't accommodate everybody.
Mike Ratu, Jodie Broughton, Ben Jones Bishop, Ashley Gibson, Kallum Watkins etc
Wakefield Trinity should be looking at one or two of these players and trying to come to some agreement with the rhinos with the player themselves to bring them over and offer them first-team football.
