Let's presume that there's some strength to the rumour, would that mean that the rfl have at some point spoken to john, who is after all under contract. If that was a club speaking to an under contract player, wouldn't that club be fined by the rfl?

So if any of this is anything other than papertalk shouldn't, whether or not they get their man, the rfl impose a fine for tapping him up in the first place on themselves?
