You know, this actually went through my mind after reflecting on Sam's Sky interview. An intelligent, articulate lad would fit in well in RU. Sam don't do it!!!!

I would be devastated if it happens!

Another young talented league player that was snapped up at an early age. Does this not prove everyones point about how the CC is ruining the competition?



It would be interesting to post something like this on the VT and see what the general view of rlfans is.

It's no myth that RU clubs are courting several Wigan youngsters at present. So excuse us if we 'get into a tiz'.

Call me a cynic but this has the halmarks of a rumour started by a mate of his to get Nobby to include him in the squad or by his agent for pay negotiations or someone else $hit-stirring

A similar thing was done to get one of our current players signed up a few years ago.

Knowing the lad a bit I'd hope he wouldn't be tempted he always moans bout how rubbish union is.

I dont think he will be off to Yawnion and he will be part of the backbone of our team for many years to come.

If it's true it could all come down to money and £125K would turn any 20 year olds head.



Who could blame him?

I've just heard from a very good source that Sam is not going. A formal offer hasn't even been made by Northampton or any other RU club. But he wouldn't go anyway, because "he just wants to play RL."

I'm sure that's his position. There'll always be some men who won't be tempted by money. Union had its own fair share back in the 70s. The likes of Gareth Edwards and JJ Williams were all offered decent contracts by RL clubs, but remained amateur (at least in the public eye).



The trouble is, these days a lot of these lads have tenacious agents who know no loyalty to RL as a sport. Even Wigan-based agents like the lad who sent Chris Ashton to RU are only interested in getting the best deal for their clients, and why not? - that's their job.



Hopefully, if this offer becomes real, the lad's determination to stay and IL's wheeler-dealing on the cash front can combine to make the lure of RU less attractive to both Sam and his representative.

Here's hoping. ST is always whinging about how sh/t RU is. I'm sure he won't go before he's past it in 10 years time.
