Surely if he was still at Wigan he would have had some involvement in one of the friendlies and would have been mentioned/seen in pre-season? It is strange that nothing has been announced though

Maybe we are looking to terminate his contract but have to wait for the legal stuff to be dealt with. Alternatively, the neck injury that put him out of the World Cup, that he sustained while playing for us, may have to be treated before we can off-load him.

I think he has nowhere to go at this moment in time. I can not see any team in England's top union division wanting him for various reasons. In Wales there might not be a team for him to go to. As it stands there is an on going situation with the regions and the WRU in regards to league to play in, funding and new Heineken Cup etc.
The regions are threatening to go and join the English top league but teams in England are against it especially the division below. Thrown into this central contacts and the game in Wales is in a dangerous situation. There is a scenario where the WRU removes funding from the 4 present regions and start new ones in other areas of Wales. If and when its sorted out we might see Powell go to Wales again and play.
And we though Super League was in a mess. Its open war in Union in Wales atm.
