I don't think he will come to play hooker, more likely back-row where we are light on, but I get your point. Catalans are also interested apparently, so I wouldn't be surprised if we get pipped to the post. Lets see what happens.



I like Henry and I think he could still do a job for us next season, but I made the point previously that he's a very similar type of half to Oli. I thought we saw the best of Henry when Corey came in, but I guess you could say that about most the squad. Again Meadows is a similar type of half to Oli, so if we don't end up retaining Corey we still need an out and out 7.



Alternatively we put our faith in the Oli/Meadows partnership with a view to that being the way forward after next season. There's a finite amount of first grade level players available right now.

Forwards look like Butler, Beinek(?), Kennedy, Adibiyi, Stock, Williams, Waine, Storey, Lovell, Parata, Natoli, no idea on Albert, with Leyland and Davis. Putting aside quality, there are numbers there.



Beyond that are a bunch of player, who, granted helped get us promoted, but beyond Walker have no recent SL experience and several of whom have come from Skolars. There really is a lack of quality. Last time we went up Walker, Dixon, Kear, Morgan, Williams, Abdull, Smith / Cunningham .... where are these players equivalents plus the quality off the Pitts, Battye, Fozzard, Yates ,,,,

So the Mike Eccles interview does seem to confirm that the 5 signings we’ve seen: three old boys, the lad from Keighley and Kennedy are what we’ve signed. I have to say that is a surprise but perhaps shouldn’t be after last two recruitment cycles where we have gone about our business in a ‘unique’ way. Big job ahead.

He was excellent for us but, as you say, has gone to SRD. We appear to be fishing in a different pond at the moment but he would have been a Championship player who had previously represented us that would have been very welcome. He also benefits from not being of pensionable age.

Is it just me or have we not really recruited well?

Have we backfilled key losses in Whare and, in particular, Norman?

Who is going to pull the strings now. Is it Oli L 18th man in SF and Final or Meadows?

Unless we bring in some quality we are looking like a mid level Championship side. The academy was scrapped to supposedly allow they club to focus on other areas of the ranking criteria. The 2 highest ranking criteria are fandom and performance. We won't pick up many performance points with a sub standard squad and nor will will attract many new fans to the club.

Probably could have coped with Whare leaving but Norman also going leaves a massive quality deficit in the squad.

In fairness I would have thought top 5 Championship team. Cant argue with the rest though. Very, very strange.

The only sane conclusion I can come up with to explain the current insanity is given that we know we will be excluded from SL in 25. So are taking the Sky/SL money & spending aslittle as possible this year with a view to mitigating Hughes' input financially & having some for a Championship side next year.



Trouble is, in SL years gone by, we have spent to the cap or claimed to have & have had a very average team. Wouldn't trust Hughes or Lobster to spend the money well.

I see where you’re coming from here DC but the problem is they are all on a 1 which means they could all fly off at the end of the season leaving us without a well oiled Championship team in 2025. If they were in 2s that would make sense although even if we won the league we wouldn’t get promoted but it might be exciting. Really not sure what we are up to.
