this thread reminded me of a young Wiganer that played for my local amatuer open age team in Warrington some years ago,



he only trained with us at first as he was too young to play, he was about 15 but he had an accent broader than vannessa Feltz' backside, it was like listening to a 60 year old pensioner talk.



One day we ribbed him about being a pie eater after he went on about various Pies, pasties and savouries,

then someone asked him "whats a Lobby" his reply in his pensioner style broad wigan twang was

"Aye thats just a Pie Bar 't crust"



the place errupted and he was know as Bart Crust forever more,



was he actually correct though ?

yes he was (a meat and potato), we in Leigh perfected using knives and forks where as our Cousins t'ther side of Bickershaw have still to do so.

Don't tend to get carrots in pies though.
