Whereas Warrington bought the Challenge Cup on the back of having a wealthy owner who could splash out on internationals. At least the likes of Edwards, Gregory, Clarke, Radlinski etc were Wigan lads brought through.

Other than Gregory, who they signed from Warrington after initially dismissing him as 'too small'.

Very wrong....Andy Gregory was born in Wigan and had played junior rugby league in the town before signing for Widnes. He had a successful time at Naughton Park before making the short trip to Warrington in the mid eighties. Wigan finally signed Andy from Warrington in 1986 for a reported £130,000 fee

I think some opposing fans just don't like the fact that SOME Wire fans like to glory in the idea that we are 'hated'...It just comes across as tedious self-importance..





It is this small section of Wire fans that people don't particularly like (including myself) rather than the Wire club itself....In reality I actually think that most RL fans have an admiration/envy for our (or more accurately, Simon Moran's) ambition.

Too much paranoia here. There are always fans of some clubs who will hate other clubs, it doesn't matter how successful or otherwise they are. When we were garbage in 2002 all the Salford and Widnes fans were saying how much they wanted us to go down and the Saints and Wigan fans were laughing at our plight and saying how it would be hilarious if w**ky warrington finally got relegated.



Hull FC have always been hated by a lot of other clubs fans, Wakefield and Cas hate each other etc.



One factor which probably irritates other clubs fans about Warrington however is that we are talked about in the media a lot, whether we are doing well or badly. For some reason Warringtons fortunes have always taken up a lot of talk time on the radio and in newspapers, out of proportion to our success, Newcastle United has the same thing in football which is why probably a lot of people revelled in them getting relegated.
