| Quote Geordie="Geordie"I suspect it will mean that they dont buy the rights to the championship games and some of the lower tier premiership games.
We may lose some TV money, just means we will have to produce more talent rather than import it.
I very much doubt it will happen, Sky will take it to the highest court possible and then appeal it 3 times before winning'"
They don't buy them now I don't think, any money for the Championship clubs appearing on Sky comes from the paltry Co-Op sponsorship

| Quote Dave T="Dave T"Really? So you'd be happy if clubs went bust after losing over a third of their income (on average) just because they have commentators you don't agree with?
I'd rather we lost your few hundred quid a year than Sky.'"

| I doubt very much that sky would drop SL, they probably don`t make much if anything from broadcasting SL given the costs involved to set up a broadcast. Its the other spin offs where sky will make their money from RL fans like people subscribing to HD and other subscription channels etc.
They have plenty of other rubbish that they would ditch before they even looked at cutting its ties with rugby league.

| I'd love nothing more than Sky Sports going bust but I'm thinking from a football point of view. Give sport back to the people who wish to pay at the turnstiles, not with their remote controls.
The only thing I actually like about Sky Sports is the PDC.

| Think this puts an end to any possibility of the NRL returning to Sky.

| Quote Ian 77 Redux="Ian 77 Redux"In it's simplest form it means:-
- Sky have to sell their channels to 3rd party broadcasters cheaper
- Sky have less money as a result
They'll almost certainly use this as a rationale to get cheaper deals, however I suspect they probably always do - it's the art of negotiation.'"
That may not happen, they are having to reduce their charges to VM & BT by about £3 per customer, but the report says that as a result of the changes they expect a lot more sports subscriptions on those platforms, which should more them make up for any income lost as a result of the OFCOM ruling.

But there will be less people subscribing to Digital Services through Sky and will go through other services, maybe.

Yeah, I suppose we won't really find out until the new charges have been in place for a couple of years and see how it has affected Sky's income.
When Virgin Media increased the price of their Sports Package up to £20.50/month there was a letter from them saying that the increase was due to Sky putting up the wholesale price that VM pay Sky for their Sports Channels. For the £20.50 I get.

| It's a sad state of affairs that rugby league is totally dependable on sky sports and if they pulled the plug there would be no future.
