So this could be potentially our last Derby against the old enemy at the Willows (clearly unless we draw each other in the Cup) so I thought I'd take a look at the history of our matches.
If my records are correct (which they may not be and I'm sure someone will tell me

) in competitive games against the Lions at The Willows, we've met on 84 occasions with us winning 48 times, Swinton 30 times with 6 draws, we've scored 955 and conceded 674. Our first game at The Willows on the 21st December 1901 strangely against Swinton a game we won 2-0 with a goal from the famous Jimmy Lomas in front of 16,981, but before that we played them at "home" 5 other times of which we only managed one win and one draw, scoring only 14 and conceding 28, bring the total of home games against Swinton to the following;
[listP W D L F A [/list:u
[list89 49 7 33 965 702[/list:u
Our biggest Victory at the Willows was 70-6 in the Northern Rail Cup in 2008.
Our biggest defeat at the Willows was 10-44 in the league in 1965-66.
Now then how many players can we name before kick off Friday that have played for both sides?
I'll kick off with the first 5;
Ken Jones
Tex Evans
Frank Cassidy
Andy Coley
Karl Fitzpatrick
off we go!
