| Quote Hessle rover="Hessle rover"If the sport is to get a bigger profile, then the national team has to be supported alot more than it is. But then there is the problem, who wants to see us being tonked by the Kiwis and the Aussies every tornament? I'll be at wembley and the KC this year tho.'"
So do you think it's because we don't win enough games? Or that we're not the best in the world?

| What would it take to get me to be country before club? 2 things - McNamara steps down as HC, and england get a coach selects the best british players from all 13 clubs

| I find it hard to say, but probably just club, I spend more time and money and feel more part of my club. But when England play I am extremely passionate, i'll also be at Wembley and LSV and trying my best to try and get to the KC.
Also think McNamara needs firing off NOW. Give Millward/Harrison or both the job as he/they have the time to run the national side as they run part time teams.

| I'll always support England, but given the choice between England winning and Cas winning, I'd always go for Cas. Not 100% sure on the reasons tbh

Well we haven't been the best in the world for a long time now, so no, that's not the reason. Personally I don't think Rl plays enough internationals. Cut the season a bit, taper in more internationals and financially reward success. I don't think our players are hungry enough on the international stage after a long season.

Bring up some very good points there (exactly what I'm trying to get to the bottom of).
England don't play enough games is basically the first thing you're saying. Something which I agree with.
I think the McNamara thing could be linked to the first issue. If England played more games, then we'd be able to gauge whether or not he was up to the job. It would be unfair to sack him after 4 friendlies and 3 series games (although he's only got a 50% record from that!).

All fair points.
Do you think cutting the season will affect your support of your club?

Not at all, I'm a season pass holder so that would be somthing I would encourage if it meant the national squad would benifit. Mayby a small percentage of club season pass sales could go towards a club England scheme to give out centralised contracts to keep our best players. But then the Chairmen at all clubs would have to sanction that, but hey, just an idea.

Not a bad idea at all.
But there could be more to it than that, especially if it comes to England playing more games (why would clubs want to fund the international side that takes away revenue from them for example)?

| Pretty sure most RL fans in this country are club first.
England is still a pretty new concept to people who grown up watching GB.
If Peacocks making daft comments like that though you have to question why he is the captain.
We should have already moved on to a young captain 25 or younger who can lead the team for 5 years and build his profile and the teams profile.
Of course we need a better thought out international programme plkanned out over 5 years and the dates and venues in stone.
Making an England V Wales the last game of magic weekend (which would mean 4 games both days then) now we dont have the crusaders in SL might be a good start.

| I'm pro both.
At the end of the day, if England were successful and we won things it would generate interest in the sport, more people would jump on the bandwagon (I'd hope) and that momentum could benefit the whole game, which, in turn, could benefit teams like Castleford and make for a stronger and more competitive league(s).
Ultimately, if it was a choice between things, naturally it would be club purely because we are underdogs and we have very few, if any, chances to win anything in our current guise (by that I mean without new stadium spending full SC) etc.
