Both Wigan and Leeds, as well as saints bring through good numbers of youngsters, and Leeds performances at youth level dropped off when the better academy players were moved up to senior level and they still got to the youth level GF. This is evidence of success at youth development level, not failure.



The facts are that Leeds, Saints and Wigans youth development structures are so far ahead of everyone else’s any difference between them is so small as to be inconsequential.

Hull have Horne and formerly Cooke as home grown halfs during our most successful period of superleague. In the 2006 grand final we had 8 players who came through our ranks. 13 of the 17 that played in that final were english. We played 2 games that season where we only had one overseas player in the 17. on one of those occasions, 14 of the 16 were lads that had come through the acadamy.



It finally feels like we are trying to go down that route again.
