I was wondering whether young players in England should come over here on a working holiday and see if they can play over here. I know of someone that did it last season, played a few games in NSW Cup (reserve grade) and was nearly signed for an NRL side’s U20s for this year.



I can't think of a reason for them not to, if they're thinking of travelling anyway.

anthony mullaly of widnes vikings is doing it. hes playin for brisbane under20's and making a big impact, hes contracted to widnes nxt yr for superleague.

theres a highlights reel of him somewhere and it looks as though hes going to be an awesome player

For most of today I heard

Good idea in theory, but how are you going to convince professional clubs over here that it's in their best interests to expose young players they've spent time and money developing to the better coaching and lifestyle they will experience in Australia?



Their first thoughts will be that the player won't be coming back and they've lost a promising prospect as a result.

Why do people think the coaching MUST be better in Australia?

The fact that more than half the coaches in SL are Australian must send a pretty clear message over there.

yes, that misconception is rife. A self fulfilling prophecy, he's Australian, he must know more. Such nonsense and embarassing for us.

what they know magic tricks? They know the game better? They have secret societies that when they go to England they don't pass on any coaching knowledge that may be different onto English people by using a mind wiping technique. etc. etc.









Australia has far more talent in far greater depth, that's the simplistic answer to your 20 year argument. Even aussies that have played in both countries will tell you that. Nothing to do with coaching. Or did people like Tommy Bishop and Malcolm Reilly teach the aussies how to play before that when they coached over here? In fact, we have a drill in Oz used in conditioning called a Malcolm, which was introduced to Oz by Mr Reilly himself. Even most aussies may not know this was named after him.
