| That'll be another team starting the year on -4 too.
Sadly for the supporters of the club, I think this might be the final nail in the coffin of their Super League 2012 license too.

I have to agree with that.
I hope they can survive in the Championship with the reduced gates.

I would expect there will be some sort of parachute payment from the RFL to any team that loses their Super League license. If that is the case, it could be a blessing in disguise for them.

| More like a sad day for HMRC (and therefore the taxpayer) and (for the second time in a decade) the smaller creditors of the club.
I fully expect a new organisation to take over the assets (such as they are - the SL licence and the players etc will be about it) and they'll play at BV this year before the Bank of Ireland sells the ground. As to the effect on their SL status from 2012...you would have to say that unless the new owners can come up with a very strong financial case (its not imnpossible they will, at that) then things don;t look so good. But they cannot use insolvency as a reason to kick them out (Widnes will go ballistic...) given what they did with Crusaders. So anything copuld ahppen yet IMO.
More to the point, coming after the Crusaders scandal this will just antagonise HMRC even more regarding the game.
None of this is the fault of the loyal Trin fans though, so can I suggest no gloating please?

| The fans are the victims here and i feel for them they have been treated like imbeciles by their management for years. Rememeber when they tried to sign the Johns brothers and jonah lomu? they got goulding, prescott and others but still nearly went bust with them if i remember correctly. anyone can sign all the players in the world but you have to be ready for the consequences too!
But you have to say they have just about kept afloat for a number of years now and i would not have been impressed had we lost our license to these buffoons. There management are stupid and stubborn for no reason other than pigheadedness. The fact they refused to even discuss a potential groundshare with cas was ridiculous t say the least. what type of business does not look at all the alternatives before deciding what is the best possible option?
I ask you this :- groundhsare with leeds at headingly or go bust? I dont want to lose my team but it is better to play somewhere uncomfortable than not at all (not opening a valley parade argument).
Their poor attempts for a renewal of their franchise went when they sold danny brough, not the best player in the world but any hopes of a strong and competitive team went when they let him go mid season without a replacement. It affectively said we can cope with mediocrity.
I am sick of hearing them begging for time or money kick them out now and install halifax, or widnes. wasters. At least then we would not have to face those pathetic wonky steps
and adey you are right it is not the fans fault and i agree gloating with them is not the way forward

I suspect they've had talks with the RL about the likelihood of them getting a franchise. And if those responses were not encouraging, they are actually better off going into Administration, and being sold off to a new management who can then start to rebuild the club. Obviously this season is a 'write off' now, and - assuming they do not keep their franchise - then they can spend the next few years building up the club at the lower level.
On balance that's a better plan than throwing money at trying to retain their franchise, and then imploding due to huge debts.
Is it still the case that all their players become free agents now? And if so are there any players who we might be interested in? Sorry to be the one to ask this question - not meaning to gloat or anything, but the question had to be asked.

To be honest, despite recognising the outstanding efforts by some of the Wakey fans in their attempts to save their Club, there is a large majority who were dead set against any idea of groundshare, and therein lies the rub. A lot of what has followed has been self inflicted.
If the BOD of Leeds and the Bulls decided that there was an excellent financial reason for building a new stadium to serve both clubs, for arguments sake, say somewhere within walking distance of Pudsey station, would there be any really genuine objections? Especially, if the alternative was dropping out of SL?

It would cost too much to change all the coloured seats every week.

I posted this on the Wakey forum. I'm clued up on most aspects of insolvency, although not quite so clear in this specific case.
"I don't think playing contracts are voided through the act of entering Administration - given that the whole point of Administration is to try and save the business as a going concern. The Administrator can of course terminate any employee, but then the employee is entitled to his statutory entitlement backed by the state, and for the balance he ranks as a creditor. Unless a player's contract has a provision allowing the player to void the contract if an act of insolvency is committed (unlikely?) then I'd say the players remain under contract, and most would probably want to remain so so that their employment rights were preserved?
Players would presumably transfer to the successor club under the TUPE rules, with contrcats and employment rights carried over?
I'm not fully familiar with the situation with playing staff under an Administration, so if anyone can improve on that I'd be keen to learn too."

| If they were voided, surely the same would have happened in Crusaders' case, and the likes of Jarrod Sammut (who's being chased by at least 1 or 2 other clubs) would probably not be under contract with Crusaders right now. Which suggests they are certainly not voided just by the act of entering administration.

| obv if they fail to pay salary then they are in breach so i guess it depends on that. Which players do you rate at wakey out of interest. Id say
Morrison and Hyde are obv ex Bulls
Luke George looked good
Murphy and Blaymire can do a job
I like Millard although I think the best is still to come from him

only one i'd take would be morro as a fill in for a year to give addy and donaldson time to develop. Dont think any of others are an improvement over what weve got.

Agreed. I can't see a single player in their squad that improves on ours, except Morrison, and he's not the type of player that will abandon a club in their hour of need IMO. Ok if he stops getting paid, he might have to for financial reasons, but if it was just an option I can't see him jumping.
And I hope none of Wakefield's players do, unless they have no choice (i.e. not getting paid). The club and fans don't need any more kicking when they're already on the floor.

Billy you have been on the Wakey board enough to have grasped the situation by now, just supposing that our fans agreed to share with Cas at Glashoughton god forbid, we have no money, Cas have no money, the cash available for Newmarket is not transferable to GH,so we are no better or worse off, Cas fans will tell you they have put in for FPP, but they had to wait until they sold Westerman to pay for it, if they could sell their land they would have put in for FPP earlier and the new build would be on its way by now, so pleasedon't blame Wakey fans for that.

| The RFL will already have decided. Think they had a meeting with the club at Rot All at the weekend.
Assuming its a prepack, then it'll be Crusaders redux. For this season, anyway.

Easily solved FA.
The el cheapo £60 a year ones, down the front would naturally be in the Bulls colours, as would the seating
in the loos, whilst the more upmarket executive seating in the upper tiers would be in a rather fetching blue and amber. I'm sure that would accurately reflect the fanbase!
There would also have to be a neutral standing area where the Gledhills and Damos of this world could spill their beer and chant their insults.

could someone then submit a bid for a player to the administrators who would then say yes or no?

| If it works anything like football, it's now the administrators discretion as to whom is sold and for what price, givent they are the 'assets' of the club.
Sad day indeed, feel for the Wakey fans and it looks almost certain they will be dropping out of SL in 2012.
