| It was against Saints. We lost 42-3. Played them a few days later and we lost 42-0! Probably late 60's. Any idea how I can find out please?

| Crikey!
I thought you'd want to forget those games by the sounds of it.

| You could look in Nigel Williams' "Bradford Northern - The History". Alternatively, I could do it for you and tell you that the first match was 22 August 1970, and the second was 19 October (also 1970).

Wow - thank you so much for that! I really appreciate it. Would have been 9 years old. Makes me feel old

| The date of your first game was August 22nd 1970 at home, and the second Saints game, away, was October 19th.

| I think Saints were pretty awesome in that era...
MDF, since I don't have that book would you indulge me and look up my first match.
It was against Oldham (at Odsal) and it was something like 1968 or 1969 when they first started having Sunday Rugby. It sticks in my mind that it was 27-7 to Northern. It was definitely on a Sunday because my Dad worked Saturdays and the advent of Sunday Rugby was the opportunity for him to take me...

Sorry, can't find a Sunday match v. Oldham at Odsal in the late 60's with anything even close to that score. Are you sure it was Oldham? We defeated them 28-10 on Wednesday 23 August 1967, and 25-9 on Wednesday 27 August 1969.

Saints have always been "pretty awesome", well in my lifetime anyway, so it doesn't really narrow it down very much.
I once had a (online) discussion with a Saints fan about how they were 'always' awesome and he had the temerity to try and deny it. Though he used some nuances of awesomeness, or lack of, that didn't quite cut the mustard for me, since as a long suffering Northern/Bulls fan I could call up the evidence of years of [igenuine[/i non-awesomeness to back up [imy[/i argument.

Hmmm, I'm certain it was a Sunday, less sure on the score - and I thought I was sure that it was Oldham. But it may not have been.
It was definitely late 60s because I moved up to what was then Junior High when I was 11, and I was certainly still at Primary School (born in 1959...) So around 1968 or 1969 seems likely.
I'm more sure it was a 27-ish against 7-10 point win than I am that it was against Oldham...

| As far as I can see on a quick look in Nigel's book there were only 3 Sunday home wins from the first Sunday game in 1967 up to the end of the 1969/70 season and these were 24th November 1968 a 15-10 home win against Bramley, February 22nd 1970 a 14-4 win against Barrow and 15th March 1970 a 10-9 win against Hull.

I'm also looking for a first date at Odsal. I'm an average to above average looking bloke, GSOH, fun outlook on life and sporty yet sensitive at the same time. My main interests are extreme sports, watching rugby, playing musical instuments, painting and talking about my feelings.
Looking for good looking 21 to 35 year old with GSOH. Here's a picture of me PM me if you are interested:
