I'm a Wakefield fan and was sat in the paddock with a relatively good view of the events.
I believe there were numerous contributing factors which could have been avoided and don't think the stewards did everything they could, or maybe it is the rules of movement of fans around Headingley.
In my view, drunken fans should not be allowed into the ground (any ground in RL). Headingley now has computerised turnstiles so there isn't even someone there to make a judgement as to whether the fan is intoxicated or not before entering the ground.
The small number of trouble maker Hull fans are a disgrace to their club and the game. I think any fan being evicted should be identified and noted prior to physical ejection so that they can be banned from their club and other RL grounds.
Sinfield and Webb should not provoke the crowd, the RL should deal with them firmly and not a mickey mouse "naughty boy don't do it again".
For the life of me I am bemused by the Leeds stewarding. Things were getting lively on the terrace yet Leeds fans are allowed to walk from the South Stand area across the away fans terrace. This led to trouble as one Rhino fan came to blows with at least one, if not numerous Hull fans at that spot, who were rightly ejected. Then at the end an embarrassment of an RL female fan wearing a "King Kev" signed Leeds top was very provocative with verbal and hand gestures, very inciteful. The stewards eventually dealt with her but not after numerous Hull fans failed to ignore it.
Stewards were quick to eject people which is correct, however if they don't allow opposing fans to walk into a highly charged provocative area, then idiot fans from both clubs are less likely to clash.
I personally think the whole organisation of the situation could be improved and all clubs can learn from the mistakes made.
As an RL fan of nearly 30 years I felt absolutely disgusted and ashamed at what I saw yesterday. I love the game, but the negative elements are an utter disgrace
