Seriously though, perhaps people should visit this demo. What do people think; if people turned up and pointed and laughed at the EDL, would it make them go away or would they regard any attention as good attention.

We have just been sent this e-mail at work....



We have been informed by the Police that the English Defence League plan to demonstrate in Manchester City Centre on Saturday 10th October 2009.



The English Defence League are a group of people who have attracted a wide amount of media attention, following recent events in Birmingham and Luton that led to high levels of disorder, due to them clashing with opposing groups.



Greater Manchester Police and the City Council have no powers to ban the English Defence League from the City Centre, but we have been assured they will not tolerate any level of unnaceptable behaviour or violent activity. The Police are anticipating in excess of 3000 demonstrators and they are expecting it to begin at approximately 10am.



So if you are able to avoid the City Centre next Saturday, it may be advisable to do so. Needless to say, we will be taking every precaution within our buildings to avoid any unauthorised persons gaining access.
