Correct.
1984/85 was one of my favourite seasons and my favourite neutral Challenge Cup final, 28 - 24 to Wigan but what a great game.

Who knocked us out in 84/85?
I remember been at Swinton in the semi the year before against Widnes and Hull KR the year after at Elland Road.

I seem to recall us losing at Hull in snow on tv with a bearded Tony Currie standing in at full back. Why I remember that (assuming I haven't imagined it) I really couldn't say.

Think the game I'm thinking of was at Boothferry Park so it might have been in the JPS instead.
If so, I'm plumping for Bradford or Widnes as the team who knocked us out of the cup.

'" Thanks for that.
I remember the Bridgend game because they were late arriving (due to snow i think) and it was a delayed kick off. I had to leave before the end to catch my bus home.
Don't remember the Widnes game but defeats against them were fairly common about that time aswell.

| I remember the Widnes game for one of the Widnes players putting a high ball up and Paul Gill losing it in the air in collision on the way to a Widnes try. They used the footage as part of the start of Grandstand when they were rolling the titles.
The Bridgend games was freezing, Eric Grothe must have wondered what hit him, although that day it wasn't, sadly for them, the Bridgend defence !

IIRC it was a huge bomb and Mark Conway was trying to block the Widnes runners...BIG MISTAKE
One of them was Kurt Sorensen he simply picked Conway up in his stride and threw him at Gill causing him to spill the ball.
Great Game......

| Back on topic, I'm not sure I agree that Pryce was no worse than anyone else. He is reputed to be the best stand-off in the country. For me, great players show up when things are going against them. He vanished. Again. I was wondering if he was still on the field for much of the last 20 minutes. Eastmond lacked composure, which will come with time, but got little support and guidance from his half back partner. He tried to do too much himself, but at least he put his hand up and tried to get it done.
All that said, full credit to Huddersfield. Their defence was a joy to watch and they fully deserved what they got. Having not seen much of them for a while, I was forced to at least consider revising my opinion of Kevin Brown, who I've never really rated, but who should have been MOM in my opinion.

I still thought until the last minute that Saints were gonna win though - credit to Giants for holding on - how much would you want Big Eorl in your team - I thought he was immense
