Quartered shirts, belts … belts! … 15 men on the pitch and you still lost 16-0 to Hunslet. Enjoy!

The RL footage produced by Mitchell & Kenyon was shown (and featured on here by me) at a club event a couple of years ago, with a presentation by RFL Historian Tony Collins.
To be honest, apparently, the stuff the BFI has on RL from M & K merely scratches the surface and even years after finding it in a milk churn in Blackburn, they're still trying to preserve the stuff.
Some of the M & K footage also contains action from the 1st Challenge Cup Final filmed (at Headingley, naturally) and the 1st try scored on film (imagine having to send it off to the Chemists for a couple of weeks, to find out if you'd scored or not !) done by some guy from Oldham at the Watersheddings .... No, it hadn't changed much.
At the time of the film, the 'Leeds' team of the were about the worst going .... Indeed, it could be argued around the turn of the 19th / 20th Century, Leeds weren't even allowed to play in the top flight RL competition at the time. Could this be the only time the club was 'relegated' ? Instead, they took part in the Yorkshire Senior Competition, whilst the big clubs more or less formed their own league (who says Super League is a new idea ?). However, they saw sense and readmitted the Loiners the season afterwards.
To be fair at the time, the Leeds side in question was only the FOURTH best professional rugby league side in Leeds .... One of the others they were playing against, but (TVOC accepted) which were the other two ?
