I was pondering the other day, while sat in a traffic jam near Oxford, the scoring rates for the winger on Senior's side over the past few years must make interesting reading. Bai, Donald, Hall, without stretching my memory, have all scored heavily playing outside Uncle Keith. Certainly tells you something doesn't it?

According to official stats. (dont know where). The number of tries scored on the left side in Rugby League far outweighs the number scored on the right side.



Agree on the Senior issue by the way though.

Extend that to Francis Cummins and Karl Pratt, players who Senior made to look so good they gained representative honours..

Also, makes you re-assess just how good a centre Chev was, considering the tries he and Calderwood chalked up on the right side.

When he had time to catch the ball, think, then pass he was a good centre.



Sadly when he was denied that time he couldn't cope IMO.

We're giving all the credit for Hall and Donald's tries to Keith but look at Calderwood's record outside Chev and since.



TVOC thinks we've been missing a decent right centre since Toopi, I thin we've been missing one since Chev.

That would have to be factored in I agree.

I thought Walker went off the boil a bit, but that made people forget how well he had played at times for us, IMO.

I'm far from giving all the credit to Keith, even chances created need finishing.



Had Chev achieved the same levels with a number of different wingers rather than just one you might have a basis for analysis. Unfortunately, he didn't.



Oh, and his handling in traffic varied between acceptable and appalling. IMO, of course.

His last season wasn't great and he was prone to some defensive lapses but Donald still scored 15 Sl tries outside him , the same he chalked up the following year outside Senior when he earned a dream team berth.

2005 Calderwood 27 tries outside Chev.



2004 Callderwood/Cummins 13 tries outside Chev.



Not bad returns really.

I think people turned on Chev a bit once he said he was off but he always had some weaknesses to his game - defensive lapses but also I seem to recall one of Phil Clarke's uberstats that Chev had the worst hands in SL in his last but one year.
