Oh it was commonplace for policemen to use sledges in snowy weather in the olden days, in fact as a kid I once had my sledge commandeered by our local bobby to get to an emergency call, he made me drive it right the way down Green Lane with him standing up at the back flashing his torch on and off wailing like a siren to get the motorists out of the way, when we got there he just ran inside his own house and never said a word of thanks, I had to walk all the way back up Green Lane on my own. |
