As a lover of Rugby League and life, I have been dismayed by what happened during and especially after the game last week. I am saddened by some of the posts I have read on message boards since which go beyond sadness and emotion, but are filled with sweeping statements and hatred.



We cannot afford to let these feelings develop between a minority of supporters of our two great clubs. The game and the rugby league family is stronger than that. We must find a way to show solidarity and send a message to the mindless minority who attach themselves to clubs for a few hours every 10 years or so and bring down the efforts that the clubs make to build their position in the community.



We must also come together to send a message of support to Dave and his family, to let them know that the true rugby league fan is appalled by what has happened and we are all thinking of him.



When our two teams next meet, be it at the Shay or Post Office Road the true fans of both clubs need to be there together to provide a public show that we will not let our game be ruined by such incidents and we will do everything we can to minimize the risks of such things happening in the future.



I am happy to take the lead from the Featherstone side to try and mobilise supporters for this partnership, I very much hope that someone from Halifax feels the same way and would like to help. If so please send me a private message with your email address and I will get in touch.

It's kind of why I've stayed off this forum Martin! I agree wholeheartedly with your comments but there has been a lot of emotive stuff written and said about last Sunday. I thought it just best to keep away!

I agree but I just know that someone from Featherstone will know who did this to David and is not coming forward to the police also sadly for the featherstone club 100s of your fans before the game where being intimidating and abusive and I will not be happy until action is taken. We had problems at Leigh this year too and despite all the complaints no action as been taken its up to the true fev fans like you to help drive these morons out of your club. We had no problems with Barrow fans last year nuff said.

I have a very good buddy amongst you Fev fans who I go to gigs with & travel abroad & we meet up at Fev v Fax games, as we did last week and we're both astonished at how last sunday turned out between the two sets of fans.

This is an opportunity for the RFL to start an awareness campaign to keep violence off the field away from our sport.

Once Fev can accept losing without kicking off or spitting their dummy out (and not im talking about last Sunday, all games before that when we beat you at fev) then maybe things will change.



Didnt see fax fans trying to board fev fans coaches at the shay starting fights or throwing stuff at coach windows when you beat us at our place.

We need to keep a sense of perspective on this and realise that it is minority elements. Generalisations and lumping people into groups only tends to aggravate and enhance the very things we despise as decent people.



Sadly, there always has been and will always be the scumbags that commit these horrendous acts. What is worrying these days is that these scumbags are shielded and defended by people who present themselves as representing the moral high ground but are in fact undermining society more than the scumbags!



Also, I have to say that maintaining a good relationship between the two clubs would be a lot easier without interference from sad embittered individuals with a personal agenda - step forward P Roe.



Let's not forget that Fax and Featherstone are two great clubs with many great fans.

I hope this thing is cleared up! I have never hit or abused anyone. I rarely openly swear at games just so's I don't offend- no real need tbh!

To be categorised as 'scum' cos some 2@ assaulted a fan of another club when I have no idea who the assailant was, leaves me feeling accused of being associated with that act. Sunday was a very bad day on so many different levels.

Fair comment mate BUT a lot of us are very unhappy with the events from last week (I was near the incident but didn't see it happen as I arrived just afterwards but did see the anger in some of your fans eyes) and the way some people are trying to blame Fax fans for 'inciting' this violence by suggesting we caused it for some weird reason?? There is going to be a lot of people boycotting Post Office Road next season and I will be thinking long and hard about it as right now I will not be going but may calm down in time and change my mind. I must also say that if the Fev fans are in the South Stand at the Shay next season sadly I can see problems, yer we should be able to shake hands and draw a line under this but when you have suffered like Dave has and the rest of us did to a lesser degree then I think it would be safer to put the Fev fans in their own stand to save us suffering further probelms.

Maybe your Board need to be more proactive and condemn the Fev fans involved and apologise for their behaviour?

Can't see that somehow its not in RL culture sadly.
